Yes, this article is about the Korean band I have been posting about and feel free to skip reading if you dislike them already 🙂
It has been about a year since I wrote my last article. My posts are always more of a personal penning and today I felt the need to put down my emotions in words.
The following said are not to promote or hype a band. This is just me sharing my experience and thoughts with you all.
This picture here was taken on 2014 when BTS went to US for the first time. They were on the streets handing posters to people and literally begging them to attend their performance for free of cost. Those were the times when they were unrecognised and free from being mobbed in public places.
This picture taken today, marks their second Billboard music award and they also made history by performing their comeback performance in this big stage. They had an arena full of fans chanting their names throughout the show which made other artists more intrigued than ever. Still they refrained from waving to their fans as a respect to the bigger artists sitting beside them. They declined all the parties that they were invited to join after awards so that they could do a 10 mins live video to thank their fans for making this possible. Yes, I stan such humble guys❤
BTS, a Korean pop band of seven members, debuted from a small company unlike other bands and paved their way to what they are today. They are just in their early twenties and what they have achieved since their teenage is something to be applauded. They have contributed millions of dollars along with their fans to help the society. And they always credit their hardwork, and not the luck, as the reason for everything.
“If you listen to our music without prejudice you will like it” – Suga (BTS member)
I came across their music 6 months back. I still wish I could have known them earlier. They produce their music and write about social issues and mental health and how one is not alone in any phase they are undergoing in their life. Their lyrics conveyed the feelings of teenagers and the issues faced by them. I could relate to it 100% like any other fellow ARMY (their fans are called ARMY) and didn’t find the language a problem. An added bonus was their power packed dance while singing.
You may think what is so special about this band. Being a celebrity, they have never acted like one ever. They sacrificed their private life and dedicated themselves completely into making music. They share their goofiness, thoughts, emotions, personalities and basically everything with their fans. This created a sense of closeness that only their fans can relate, something which I’ve not seen in any other celebrity or fandom.
To people who think all this is a waste of time, I’d like to say that they never fail to inspire their listeners and help them with their music and meaningful lyrics. I always admire the words of wisdom they share each time they gather a fanmeet. And the fact that it is coming from such young minds is even more commendable. One of my fav which I always remember to keep me going is
“I’d rather die to live without passion” – Jungkook’s words when he was merely 16 years.
Music has no language or any barriers for that matter. The fact that people enjoy listening to westerner’s music but disliked this band made me wonder. Apparently they needed perfect noses and eyes and many other features to even see their performance.
Only then I realised the prejudiced thoughts of the people. It is okay to not like their music. People have different tastes. But throwing a fit of laughter just by looking at their faces and making fun of people who like their music is something….. something that’s happening a lot. It’s sad to see such rascist behaviour even in this generation.
I hope that one day all will rise above such narrow minded thoughts and accept people the way they are without any judgements. These are the thoughts that indirectly makes you think that you have imperfect physical features. Change your thoughts and see yourself grow into a better person.
And coming back to my favourite band, I am thankful to all those moments they shared with their fans. They never shy away from making meme/derp faces and even laugh along with fans to their own memes. All need such fun, sensitive and relatable celebrities and that is the exact reason behind their huge and growing fandom. I have forgotten having a lonely feeling and I have laughed and cried along with them for these past few months and I intend to share more happy moments in the upcoming years.
So to the people around me, no offence but please refrain from passing those meaningless comments and be mum about it 🙂
Thank you if you read this till the end.
